Well,  I am finally doing considerably better.  Once I start on the downward spiral it is sooooo hard to stop and change directions.  But the depression has lifted and the anxiety is much less and manageable.  Since what happened with Elizabeth I have had a hard time returning to my diet (Schwarzbien) but I’m now doing much better.  I haven’t been sleeping well in months which always makes things much worse but I’m doing much better in this area as well.

I think my parent’s visit helped alot.  We saw them last Thursday, Friday(the 4th), and Saturday.  We didn’t do much but hang out but just being with them was great.  Played Scrabble with Dad (and won), took a walk with him, and watched him read to Megan.  Talked with Mom, cooked with her and just enjoyed her company.

The 4th was nice too.  Went to my aunt and uncle’s house for a family picnic.  You know one of the things the Lord has taught me this last year is that he blessed me with a great family and I have really taken them for granted.

Since, I’ve been feeling better I have managed to get quite a few things done that have been hanging over my head.  (Another step up)  I had a backlog of paperwork that needed to be done ( oh how I dislike paperwork) but it’s finished.

The girls and I don’t have alot planned for the summer.  Megan and Elizabeth have swimming lessons and we have our lake badges, but not much else.  We go to the library alot.  I am working with Megan on her reading.

Brian is going to be off for 3 weeks during the summer.  One week we will all be going to a conference in Virginia.  We are talking about what we will do with the rest of our time.

Hope you are all doing well.

    Jenn

  • Glad to hear you’re doing better!  I’ve learned just recently how easily depression can creep in & I’ve decided… I DON’T like it!  :hammer:

    Happy weekend!  ~Lori

  • Great post and I love that PICTURE!!!! I’ll try to make sure BETH sees this, as she was asking how you’re doing….

  • :dancingcow: so glad you are better, jenn!  i did the schwarzbien diet for a while and it got a little cumbersome.  but i tell ya, i felt like a million bucks when i was on it.  it’s just hard to eat out and when all 5 of our kids would come in for the holidays i always got messed up with it.  i don’t have a lot of willpower but i needed to get back to eating better to feel better mentally and physically. so, jim and i started a mini vegetarian diet and it makes us feel great.  we eleminate 2 things at a time from our diet for two weeks and then eliminate two more.  it makes it a lot easier!  we’re down to no sugar, no caffiene, no pork, no seafood, no red meat (except on a special occasion), no white flour and we eat mostly fruit, veggies, almonds and cereal/wheat/oats.  it’s be surprisingly easy!  good luck staying healthy!

  • Glad to hear that you’re feeling better and that your visit with your parents really cheered you up! I beat Fiona at Scrabble yesterday and that cheered me up!

I think we eat pretty healthy, but I’m a purist and would like to do better. I just find it overwhelming to do all the little things, and I like eating dessert. So store bought cookies have crept back into our lives.

I think your summer sounds really nice. enjoy just relaxing and hanging out by the lake!

  • I am so glad to hear you are feeling better!   And that you had a nice visit with your family!

I have not heard of that diet – something to look at and learn about.  I try to stick to real foods as much as possible and when I don’t…that’s when the crud creeps right in.

Have a wonderful weekend!  Sarah and I are off to a dog show out of town with Sir Otis.

    xoxo Cat
